2014 PROGRAM - RIGA, LATVIA - July 20 thru August 3, 2014
For the third time, Open World will bring together some of the world's great ballet instructors and students with a passion for dance from around the world. This year's training will take place in a city with beautiful beaches, a historic old town with influences from its periods of rule by Germany, Poland, Sweden and Russia. Its rich history dates back to the 2nd century. The more than ninety-year history of Latvian ballet has close ties with the finest traditions of the Russian school of classical ballet. In this way, the classical Russian ballet traditions were passed down from generation to generation, and eventually gave the world ballet stars born in Riga including Mikhail Baryshnikov, Māris Liepa, and Alexandr Godunov.
Exciting news! This year Open World Dance Foundation will be offerring its first teachers program so that ballet instructors, coaches and studio owners can attend alongside their students and benefit from the invaluable learning of Professors of Vaganova Academy Irina Trofimova and Ludmila Safronova who were both students of Agrippina Vaganova. These amazing women will provide lectures on Vaganova methods by level which will be followed immediately with observation of their teaching reinforcing those approaches as they are used in the studios of the summer intensive program.
