2018 Teacher Training in New York City

Teacher Training will again be offerred in conjuction with our Summer Intensive which will be held this year from July 30 to August 18, 2018 in New York City. This program will give the chance to a limited number of teachers to observe all of our classes and be emerged in learning not just Vaganova theory but to experience this theory being applied!

You will observe the teaching of classical and character classes with very detailed corrections and explanations followed with daily question and answer sessions.Teacher training participans will also have the rare opportunity to observe Character dance being taught the way it is done in our school, Vaganova Ballet Academy, where it starts with Historic Dance first and grows into the robust discipline of Character Dance!

As always you will be able to observe all disciplines of our training including acting classes, variations, partnering, etc. being taught by our amazing faculty including Star of Paris Opera Ballet Cyrille Atanassoff and one of Agrippina Vaganova students, Star of Mariinsky Theater and now Principal Coach of ABT, Irina Kolpakova! In the words of a past participant, "Your intensive is like having the feeling you are in the cradle of dance."

The Teacher Training Program will be held in conjunction with our Summer Intensive. We encourage you to consider whether any of your students should audition to participate. The Teacher Training program will cover teaching methodology for all eight levels. In addition to daily question and answer sessions, you will also get special lectures on unique aspects of our training including historical and character dance.

We asked our participants to describe how our program compares to other recognized international programs.

"I've taken the ... courses that [another major program] provides in NY, during three consecutive summers... it's very interesting, but very different from what you did.I loved them both, but your intensive is like having the feeling you are in the cradle of dance. We can observe the artistry, the philosophy. Having Kolpakova is a plus. And Saffronova... directly from Agrippina!! And Elena, And Semionov . . . [The other program] is strictly technical, very useful for learning to create combinations, but lacks the artistic insight you show... Your program is more complete.”

Teacher from Argentina

" I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the OWDF Teacher Training Program in July 2016, and fell in love with the program and with the teachers, all who shared their incomparable knowledge with absolute devotion and passion. One year later, I had the privilege of inviting Ekaterina and Anton to Costa Rica to work with my students. Watching them teach is without doubt the BEST experience ever!

Today, finding a credible teacher to pass on the Vaganova style is a challenge. Teachers at OWDF offer systematic analyses on the study of each movement, and their individual approach makes it possible to get REAL answers to our questions! I admire OWDF for bringing us close to Vaganova's impeccable training standards. Learning from them is an honor for anyone who respects Vaganova's centuries of tradition and the importance to preserve its place in the culture of the world. "
